South Sudan
Years of civil war have left 6 million people in need of humanitarian aid and more than a million of these people have sought refuge in Uganda. Hundreds of thousands have fled to other neighbouring countries. Many of the people seeking refuge are children travelling alone after being orphaned as a result of the conflict. This Future Learning Space has been designed in response to the crisis facing South Sudanese people, particularly girls and young women to work to ensure they are safe, have access to clean water, enough food to eat, sanitation and have the opportunity to be educated so they can be empowered to create a worthwhile and productive life for themselves and become a valued member of their community. This will not only benefit these girls, but will also benefit future generations of South Sudanese girls.
